Worcester - January 2019 newsletter

Happy New Year!
I would just like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year and I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. We can’t quite believe its January already! Last year was a very exciting year for us as a nursery and I’m sure we will have lots more to look forward to this year at Shooting Stars Worcester. The staff team are all excited to see the children after the Christmas break and have enjoyed hearing all about what Santa brought them!
I am very happy to share with you that Kelsey has taken on the position of acting deputy nursery manager.

Front gate
Please could we ask that you ensure that the gate at the front of the nursery is closed behind you? This is to ensure that there is maximum safety and security in and around the nursery. Could we also remind you if there are parents waiting at the door, please do not let them in or be offended if another parent does not let you in. Please notify a member of staff that somebody is waiting, and they will admit them into the nursery.

Parking
Now that the nursery is getting busier, please could we ask that you are mindful when parking to drop off and picking up your children. There are more spaces allocated around the corner from the nursery.

As we are located in a residential area, could we kindly ask that you park considerately to enable us to maintain good relationships with our neighbours.

Shooting Stars Nurseries Awards
In December, Shooting Stars held its second company-wide awards and celebration evening. We are delighted to inform you that many of our staff here at Shooting Stars Worcester won various awards. We congratulated Jen, who was awarded ‘Worcester Employee of the year’ for her passion and contribution to the Pre-Toddler room, where she has supported the children, fellow staff and management through change and been promoted to Room Leader. The ‘Parents’ Choice’ award went to Bronwyn, who started with us as an Apprentice and has progressed in her role to a fantastic Nursery Nurse. She received many wonderful comments from parents about her clear love for the children in her care, her enthusiasm and great communication. Katie was also nominated for the ‘Rising Star’ award. She has only been with us since July but in that time, she has been quick to establish herself and be promoted to Room Leader in the Baby Room, developing strong bonds with the babies and parents and showing dedication and passion for her room.
Thank you to all those who nominated staff for the Parents Choice awards – your kind words are very much appreciated by the nominees.

Outdoor clothing
As the weather is very cold, could we please ask that parents provide appropriate outdoor clothing for your children such as coat, hat and gloves. This will enable us to enjoy the new garden in all weathers.
Could we ask parents to also start providing wellington boots, clearly labelled with your child’s name? These can be left at nursery if you prefer.

Open Day Saturday 19th January 2019
We are very pleased to announce that will be hosting an Open Day on Saturday 19th Jan from 10am-1pm. We are very keen to showcase the refurbishment and new garden to prospective families.
Please spread the word, as we are always promoting our recommend a friend scheme which entitles you to a week’s worth of free childcare based on your child’s booking pattern if you are to recommend a new starter.

Christmas Jumper Day
Thank you for joining in the fun on our Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Save the Children. We raised £17.70 for the charity. Watch this space for further fundraisers and if you have any ideas for events, we would love to hear them.

Pre-school Forest School experience!
Pre-school are very excited to announce that Forest School experience will be starting as of the week commencing 14th January.

This will allow the children the opportunity to explore and learn in the great outdoors. The children will enjoy many sessions in the garden which will include circle time, snack time, bug hunting, mud kitchen, making dens, mark making etc. The children will be encouraged to consider and take risks as well as learning new skills which will be supervised by all of the pre-school staff.

To ensure the children are involved and enjoy this experience, Pre School staff have asked that you provide appropriate outdoor clothing and wellies for your children.

Question of the month - “Do you receive the monthly newsletter?”
24 people answered yes. Thank you for all of you that responded. If you are not receiving our monthly newsletter by email, please let me know and I will ensure that this is amended for you. We also have paper versions available in the reception area.

Direct Debit – the easy way to pay your child’s nursery fees
Many parents are now paying by variable Direct Debit, where your fee payment is taken automatically each month, preventing late payment charges from occurring. If you would like to sign up to pay your fees by Direct Debit, please speak to Sarah and she will provide you with a Direct Debit form. Thank you to everyone who already pays by Direct Debit.

Please recommend us on Daynurseries.co.uk
We are yet to receive any parent reviews on Daynurseries.co.uk and would very much appreciate your review. As a family using our nursery, you opinion is very important, both to us and to other families looking for the right nursery for their child. You can leave a review anytime either by searching ‘Shooting Stars Nurseries at Worcester’ on Daynurseries.co.uk, or by picking up a review card in reception. Many thanks in advance.

Final Note
We would like to extend a very big thank you to all families for your continued support. I would like to wish you all a very happy and healthy new year and I look forward to sharing all the exciting news and events throughout the year with you.
Our staff and management team are here to provide the very best service for you and your child. If there is anything we can do to improve your experience please do not hesitate to speak to us.
