Wolverhampton - June 2019 newsletter

Fundraising update
During the week commencing June 17th, our staff team are going to pedal 104 miles on an exercise bike in the reception area of nursery. We will be asking for donations throughout the week which will be donated to The Haven.
Statistics show that 2 women a week die as a direct result of domestic abuse, which equates to 104 each year. Please come along and cheer us on throughout the week!

Staff update
Louise, who works in our Pretoddler room will be leaving nursery on Friday 14th June to commence maternity leave. I’m sure Louise will keep in touch and will let us know as soon as she hears the pitter patter of tiny feet!
Unfortunately, we will also be saying goodbye to Chloe who will be leaving on Thursday 27th June. We wish Chloe all the very best in the future.
We would like to welcome Mary to the team. Mary will be working alongside Cheryl in the kitchen. Surjit who previously worked in our kitchen left on June 5th to spend more time with her family. I’m sure you will all see Mary around and about nursery over the next few weeks.

Room updates - What’s been going on this month?
Baby room – The children in the baby room have spent time playing with balls. They have enjoyed rolling balls in the garden which then developed into rolling small balls in paint. The children have made a lovely display in their room. Please come and take a look!
Pretoddler room – The pre toddler children have been thinking about their emotions by making fruit faces and making happy and sad faces during their circle time sessions. This month, the children have a new book of the month which is ‘The very Hungry Caterpillar’ and have lots of exciting activities planned around this.
Toddler room – Toddler room children have enjoyed listening to the story ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’. They have created a swirling, whirling snowstorm using pompoms and glitter in the water tray and a narrow, gloomy cave in the garden. The room will also we welcoming a new holiday teddy called ‘Freddy the frog’. Freddy is looking forward to sharing some holiday adventures with you all this summer!
Preschool – Preschool have enjoyed thinking about their topic of space. They have investigated the different planets and looked at their different names, sizes and colours. The children have thought about the moon and found out that it is NOT made of cheese but actually made from rock. They have created a wonderful space station and have travelled to the moon to find rocks to explore.

Summer fete
We are holding a summer fete on Saturday 27th July from 11.30 until 2.30pm. Entry tickets are on sale for £2.50 each. Children who attend nursery come for free. If anyone would like to help, is interested in having a stall or has any donations for our tombola, please come and speak to front desk.

Leaving to go to school in September?
Just a gentle reminder that if your child will be leaving us this summer to start school in September, we require a minimum of one months’ notice in writing to terminate your contract with us. If you already know your child’s leave date, please feel free to pop it in writing so that we can arrange your final invoice.
For term-time families leaving us to go to school, the last day of term will be Friday 19th July 2019.

Suncream
Could we please ask where possible that on sunny days where UV levels are high, if you could apply sun cream onto your child’s skin before coming into nursery. Sun cream normally takes approximately 30 minutes to soak into the skin before being exposed to sunlight so it would be helpful if this could be applied before leaving for nursery, thank you.

Preschool graduation
Tickets are now on sale at front desk for preschool graduation. This truly is an unmissable event and we hope you will be able to share in our celebrations!

Daynurseries Top 20 Mid-size Nursery Group Award
Everyone across the Shooting Stars group is absolutely delighted to receive a Daynurseries Top 20 Award for the second year running. It is testament to the hard work, enthusiasm and creativity of each and every one of our team members. It makes us all even prouder to be a part of the Shooting Stars family! Huge thanks to all of the parents for taking the time to share very valuable feedback in their lovely reviews.

Chickenpox
As you are all aware, we have had some confirmed cases of chicken pox within nursery over the past couple of weeks. Chickenpox is common and mostly affects children, although you can get it at any age. Please follow the link below for further information and guidance on signs and symptoms.

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/chickenpox/

Children are allowed back into nursery once all the spots have crusted over.

Car parking
Could we once again please remind all parents to park using the available parking bays within the car park? It is important to keep the area outside the rear gates where there are yellow diamond markings clear at all times. This is due to fire regulations. We would like to thank you in advance for your support and understanding with this matter.

End of term dates
Term will end on Friday 19th July. There will be no funding after this date until the new term commences at the beginning of September. For our term time families, this will be your last date of attendance before the summer holiday begins.

Final Note
If there is anything we can do to improve your family’s experience, please do not hesitate to speak to us.
Warmest regards from Kully, Charmaine & the Shooting Stars Wolverhampton team.
