Worcester - September 2017 Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to our first Shooting Stars monthly newsletter. We would firstly like to thank you all for all of your support so far during the transition to Shooting Stars.

You may have all noticed that the building work is now under way. In order to ensure parents are kept up to date, we will be creating a display board in reception for everyone to see the progression of the work. Full details of the refurbishment work will be displayed, along with computer generated impressions of the room layouts and designs. As a team we are really excited that work has started. Throughout the duration of the work, we will be supporting children to ensure that transitions to their new rooms are as smooth as possible. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have.

Over the next few months you will be notice some staff changes happening throughout the nursery. On Friday 29th September, Emily our Toddler Room Leader will be leaving us for a new career away from childcare. Emily has worked at the nursery for a considerable length of time. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Emily for her continued support over the years and we wish her all the best in her new adventure. We are currently recruiting for a suitable practitioner to take on Emily’s role. We will keep you updated with any appointments.

We would like to take this opportunity to share some exciting news with you. Becky (Manager) and Carly (Pre Toddler Room Leader) are both expecting their first babies. Becky is due at the end of January and Carly is due at the end February. We would like to pass on our congratulations to both Becky and Carly. Maternity cover recruitment is underway and we will of course keep you informed once suitable appointments are made.

If you would like to receive information regarding Shooting Stars Nurseries Safer Recruitment Policy, please do not hesitate to ask at the office.

If your child was born between 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2014, you will need to apply for school by 15th January 2018.
For more information on how to apply visit www.worcestershire.gov.uk/schooladmissions

With the seasonal change and with the wet and cold weather approaching, please can we ask that parents provide their child with suitable, labelled clothing and footwear for outdoors. Children will be encouraged to access the outdoors in all weathers and therefore, nursery will be providing all in one weather suits for all ages.

We would be very grateful if you could review us on www.daynurseries.co.uk This is a popular source for parents looking to research nurseries in their local area and we are keen to demonstrate just how fantastic Shooting Stars Nurseries is and the opportunities we could offer their child. Your review is much appreciated.

Here at nursery we have begun to use MailChimp to communicate with parents. MailChimp is a simple email marketing software which gives the nursery a number of options for designing, sending and saving templates of your emails. Please check you inbox for notifications. Paper based communications will be made available in reception.

The Department of Health have asked us to remind you about the ‘Childhood Flu Immunisation Programme’
’All children aged 2, 3 and 4 year olds can get the vaccine at their general practice, this is usually given by the practice nurse and given as a nasal spray.’ More information is available from the office on request.

Parents, your feedback is very important to us here at Shooting Stars and your opinion really matters. As a Company we have previously issued Parent Feedback Surveys. We have decided that it would be good to introduce these at Worcester also. Each month we will chose a selection of parents and send them a link to Survey Monkey. We would appreciate it very much if you could take 5 minutes to give us your thoughts, opinions and feedback on your child's experience at Shooting Stars. We understand all parents are busy so if you receive a survey to complete, you will not receive another survey request for one year. We do, of course, welcome feedback and comments from parents at any time, so please do continue to speak to a member of the team or manager.

Your feedback will provide us with valuable information on your views of your children's nursery care and education, and will allow us to both make improvements where necessary, and provide praise to the staff where appropriate. Please look out for the Survey Monkey link coming soon. Thank you.

Jeans for Genes Day - Friday 22nd September
Children and staff are invited to wear your own jeans to nursery with a donation to help support children in the UK wiith Genetic disorders.

If you have any suggestions for our next newsletter, please speak to Becky or Carla.

Thank you for your continued support
Becky, Carla and Nursery Team
