Worcester - Newsletter November 2017

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are delighted to inform you that the building work is almost complete on the 2nd floor. We anticipate that Pre-school will move up to the 2nd floor week commencing 27th November. We are all very excited. The builders will then move onto the 1st floor phase. In order to ensure consistency for the children, the toddler children will also move upstairs for the interim period. This will allow the builders to securely section the 1st floor off, ensuring the highest safety at all times.
With this in mind, we have decided that any future room moves into the toddler room will be on hold until the 1st floor is complete. The children will remain downstairs with their current key workers who will continue to plan and support the children individually and encourage the children to continue to progress in their development.

We are introducing areas of continuous provision within each base room. Continuous provision includes those resources and experiences that are age appropriate and are constantly available to the children. Resources will be clearly labelled and accessible for children so they can make their own choices. They are able to return to materials and experiences that interest them, allowing them to deepen and further their thinking and learning.

Our first focus for continuous provision is craft and creativity, which will be followed by sand and water. If you have any questions, please speak to a member of the team.

We are delighted to inform you that Becky has been appointed as room leader for the Toddler Room (2-3’s). Becky will continue to work alongside Emma and Craig, supporting the children with the upcoming transition to the 2nd floor.
We are continuing to recruit for Maternity Cover for Becky and Carly. Becky will finish at nursery on Friday 22nd December, before starting her maternity leave in January. We will keep you posted of any developments in recruitment and estimated leave date for Carly.
If you would like to receive information regarding Shooting Stars Nurseries Safer Recruitment Policy, please do not hesitate to ask at the office.

If your child was born between 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2014, you will need to apply for school by 15th January 2018. For more information on how to apply visit www.worcestershire.gov.uk/schooladmissions

With the seasonal change and with the wet and cold weather approaching, please can we ask that parents provide their child with suitable, labelled clothing and footwear for outdoors. Children will be encouraged to access the outdoors in all weathers and therefore, nursery will be providing all in one weather suits for all ages.

We would be very grateful if you could review us on www.daynurseries.co.uk This is a popular source for parents looking to research nurseries in their local area and we are keen to demonstrate just how fantastic Shooting Stars Nurseries is and the opportunities we could offer their child. Your review is much appreciated.

Here at the nursery we have begun to use MailChimp to communicate with parents. MailChimp is a simple email marketing software which gives the nursery a number of options for designing, sending and saving templates of your emails. Please check you inbox for notifications. Paper based communications will be made available in reception

The Department of Health have asked us to remind you about the ‘Childhood Flu Immunisation Programme’
’All children aged 2, 3 and 4 year olds can get the vaccine at their general practice, this is usually given by the practice nurse and given as a nasal spray.’ More information is available from the office on request.

We have recently updated the following policies:
• Sickness and Illness Policy and Procedure
• Medication Policy and Procedure
If you would like a copy of these policies, please speak to a member of the team. As ever, if you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to ask a member of the team.
