Gloucester - November 2017 Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

Staffing Updates
We would like to welcome our new kitchen assistant, Keila. Keila will be working closely with Debbie in the Kitchen and will bring a lot of her experience into the nursery setting.

Room Themes
All of the rooms within the nursery have been developed carefully and are designed to provide fun, engaging and stimulating activities that help to promote the children’s skills in a variety of areas:
- personal, social and emotional
- communication and language
- physical
- mathematical
- literacy skills
- expressive arts and design and
- knowledge and understanding of the world.

If you would like to know more about the type of activities your child will be enjoying this month, please ask the team in your child’s room and we will be happy to share our plans with you.

Recipe of the Month
We often receive lots of positive feedback regarding the meals that are served at nursery, with parents requesting copies of the recipes to try at home. We are so delighted with this feedback and it is a pleasure to see the children enjoying these so much. For this reason, each month we will share a recipe as our ‘Recipe of the Month’ for you to try some of the wonderful meals that Debbie cooks each day. Why not try this at home and tell us what you think!
This month’s Recipe of the Month is Cottage Pie. You can find a copy of this receipe at the end of this month’s newsletter

We would be very grateful if you could review us on www.daynurseries.co.uk This is a popular source for parents looking to research nurseries in their local area and we are keen to demonstrate just how fantastic Shooting Stars Nurseries is and the opportunities we could offer their child. Your review is much appreciated.

Please do not be offended if staff members do not accept your friend requests. It is company policy for staff not to be friends with parents on Facebook.

Now that the winter has arrived, could we please ask that parents provide warm clothes for their children. This includes a warm coat, wellies, hats, gloves and scarves. We like to access the garden all year round and parents providing these warm clothes means that the children can go outside.

Spare Clothes/Donations
Thank you for the donations of spare clothes. We will always welcome clothes that are outgrown/no longer required, so if you have any items that you wish to donate, we would gratefully receive them for our stock of spares.
We are looking for any donations of any plastic picnic sets or plates that parents may have at home that they no longer need. We would also be grateful if any parents had any spare dolls clothes or dolls that they could donate to the nursery.

Parent Development Group
You can find information packs about our Parent Development Group in the reception area. We also display the minutes from the previous meeting on the parents notice board, along with the names of the parent representatives for each group. Our current Parent Representatives have very kindly shared their email addresses for use parents unable to attend the meetings, allowing you to forward any ideas you would like discussed. We would really love for more parents to join the group.

If you might be interested, please speak with your child’s Room Leader who will provide you with further information.
The next Parent Development Group will be held on Tuesday 16th January 2018. 6.15pm-7.15pm

Recommend a Friend Promotion
Don’t forget that as an existing Shooting Stars parent you will receive a free week of your regular childcare for each friend that you refer to us.
